Server Side Includes
What are Server Side Includes? How could you increase your rankings through SSI?
Server Side Includes (SSI) is a simple server-side language, which lets you incorporate text from a specified source in a web page. In the most widespread case, the text from a single file is incorporated in a different one, giving a website the sense that it is dynamic. For instance, if your site has ten webpages, five of them can easily include the content of any kind of file, for example horoscope.txt. If you alter this text file, the updated content is going to appear on all five web pages, which will permit you to bring up to date your website much easier than if you had to modify a component of all 5 web pages. Server Side Includes is sometimes used to include the output of simple commands, scripts or functions as well - a hit counter that's displayed on the site, the current time and date or the customer's IP address. Any webpage that uses SSI will need to have a unique extension - .shtml.

Server Side Includes in Cloud Hosting
It will be possible to use Server Side Includes with all of the
cloud hosting plans that we offer and activate it individually for each and every domain or subdomain in your hosting account. This can be achieved when using .htaccess file, which should be positiioned in the folder in which you wish to use SSI and you have to type in a few lines of code in that file. You can see the code within our Knowledgebase area, so you're able to just copy and paste it, since you do not need any coding knowledge to benefit from all characteristics that our services have. If you have currently built your website and you wish to use Server Side Includes later on, you will need to make sure that you rename the files from .html to .shtml and correct the links on the website, or else SSI is not going to work.

Server Side Includes in Semi-dedicated Servers
It won't take you more than a minute to activate Server Side Includes when you've got a
semi-dedicated server plan with us. When you choose to enable this feature, you will need to make an .htaccess file in the root folder for the domain name or subdomain where you need SSI to be active. In that file, you need to copy some code, which you can see in the FAQ article that we have devoted to SSI. You can find the latter within the Help section of your Hosting Control Panel, so you do not require any prior knowledge about such matters. The only 2 things you must take care of are renaming all web pages that shall use Server Side Includes from .html to .shtml and updating each of the links on your website, so they point to the renamed files.
