When a page on your Internet site does not load, an error message will be shown to the website visitor. Since there are different errors, there are different pages which will display, but what's standard for all of them is that they're generic and almost certainly shall have absolutely nothing in common with the layout of your Internet site, which may be annoying for any visitor. That is the primary reason why hosting companies have introduced a function called Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, website visitors shall see your custom made content, which can be informative or amusing, depending on your taste, and which will match the overall layout of your site, so the pages won't look like they're not part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting
If you purchase a cloud hosting from our company, you shall be able to set personalized error pages for your Internet sites easily, since this feature is part of all of our plans. The moment you've created the files and uploaded them to your web hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the specific domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up that will show up, you shall see drop-down options menus for all four types of errors and for each of them you can select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a custom made page. If you choose the third option, you should only input the URL to the file you have uploaded then save the change. Another way to set custom made error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to add a few lines of program code in it. If you don't have prior experience or if you're just not sure how to do this, you can just copy and paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that topic.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you host your web sites in a semi-dedicated server account from us, you can set personalized error pages for each of them with ease via our in-house built Hepsia hosting CP. With a few mouse clicks inside the Hosted Domains section, you'll be able to modify the default setting from a system page to a customized one for any of the four error types. All you should do is provide a link to each file that you have uploaded before that and then save the change. If necessary, you'll be able to revert this modification anytime and in exactly the same way. If you wish, you can use an .htaccess file too. It must be created/uploaded in the domain or subdomain folder related to the internet site whose error pages you would like to modify and the content for this type of file can be found in our Help article on this matter.
